Cinémaamour was born out of my Notes app poetry, my sentimental love for retro cinema, and nostalgic jazz. Whether it is the adorable naivety of Technicolor or the sensual fatalism of classic noir, there is always something that feels deeply personal. The polished beauty of the scenery, exaggerated femininity, witty and precise dialogue — none of it makes retro cinema “fake.” On the contrary, it makes it feel like an impression of a person, imprinted in your memory, simplified and enhanced by nostalgia. Jazz feels much the same to me. Despite being famous for embracing improvisation, it somehow feels like a memory, or even a daydream. Jazz is a safe space. Jazz is for joyful lovers, hopeless romantics, and those overflowing with gratitude for life. Cinémaamour is my little space for all of it.
