His dearest friend was Lila, a kind little girl who never carved him and called him her favorite pumpkin. But on Halloween night, chaos swept the village โ a careless hand seized him, and he was carved into a glowing lantern, far from everything he loved. When his inner candle flickered out, he transformed into a floating ghost-pumpkin with a cold blue flame, drifting unseen through the spooky night. He never frightened a soul, and at dawn he whispered to Lila on the wind: "I'm always here, sweet and spooky, forever yours." Over the years, his tale became a beloved Halloween legend โ but legends rarely end where they're supposed to... You can find the rest of the story under the lyrics.... [Intro] You left him burning on the stair. You should have left him growing there. [Verse 1] We felt the iron through the vine. His severed stem was joined to mine. Beneath your songs, beneath your feet, We heard his heart forget its beat. A year of rain. A year of roots. Now mud climbs up your polished boots. You lift the knife. We split the ground. This time, the harvest makes a sound. [Pre-Chorus] Bolt the shutters. Count the locks. Something underneath them knocks. Down the lane and through the dewโ What you planted comes for you. [Chorus] March! March! The pumpkins rise! Blue fire burning in our eyes~. You took him laughing from the vine. Tonight, your hands let go of mine. March! March! From field to door! We won't lie waiting anymore~. You held the knife. You made the rules. Now feel the earth move under you. [Verse 2] We pass the children. Let them sleep. We have another debt to keep. The hand that dragged him through the square Has left its lantern burning there. We lay his broken shell below. The roots find cracks. The cracks will grow. Your kitchen knife falls on the floor. The handle turns toward the door. [Pre-Chorus] No more torches. No parade. Stand inside the smile you made. All the songs you shouted throughโ Let them drown the sound of you. [Bridge] "He never asked for this," she cries. "He only wanted one more night." "We heard him when his candle died. We know the words he keeps inside." "Then why is someone calling out From where you put the candle now?" [Breakdown] Behind the glass. Beneath the grin. The whole town sings. No sound gets in. No hand to hold. No way to run. You made him one. We made you one. [Final Chorus] March! March! The pumpkins rise! Blue fire burning in our eyes. The hand that held the knife is still. The lantern watches from the sill. March! March! The debt is paid! Another prisoner in the flame. We brought him justice, cold and brightโ He turned his face away that night. [Outro] Lila walks the road alone. A small blue light will lead her home. Behind them, in the window frame, A stranger tries to say his name. Halloween 2026 | The Ghost of Pumpkin 2 : Revenge of the Pumpkins One year had passed since Ghost Pumpkin whispered his farewell on the autumn wind. The town remembered him only as a legend โ but the field did not forget. For the pumpkins still growing in the wind-swept patch had felt everything through the soil: the tug on his vine, the flash of the blade, the moment his inner light went out. On the night when the first knives were sharpened for Halloween, the earth began to tremble. From inside the ripening pumpkins, faces opened โ not carved from without, but pushed open from within. They tore themselves free on twisted, coiling vines and rose, marching upright on braided legs of vine. In every open mouth burned the same cold, blue flame that burned in Ghost Pumpkin, and behind them the soil turned to black, scorched furrows. Their march was not destruction โ it was a search. They were looking for the hands that had seized him, carried him away, and cut him open. When they found the houses of those who had wielded the knives, they laid pieces of his old shell upon the doorsteps like relics โ and moved on. And beneath those houses, in the dark under the floorboards, something began to grow. Lila ran out into the night and blocked their path. "He never told me anything about revenge," she called. "He wouldn't want this!" The pumpkins stopped, then answered in voices like leaves: "We remember what he cannot bear to say." And Lila understood that Ghost Pumpkin had never spoken of that night โ not because he had forgiven, but because the pain was too deep for even a ghost to carry. They found him at last: the man whose careless hand had grabbed Pumpkin, who had carved him laughing amid the chaos of torchlight. They surrounded his house, blue flames turning the windows into rows of cold, watching eyes. But they did not carve him. Instead, they took his voice and his movement and sealed him inside a lantern upon his windowsill โ able to see the festival, the laughing children, the glowing jack-o'-lanterns, but never to be heard again. When Ghost Pumpkin drifted over the town that night and saw the lantern on the windowsill, he understood. His friends had avenged him with a fate shaped exactly like his own โ sealed in a shell of light, watching a joy he could never touch. For the first time since his transformation, he felt something colder than his flame: his friends had won his revenge, but his loneliness had multiplied, as if the mist in his core had finally reached its very center. He hovered above the marching rows, one blue flame among hundreds, no longer knowing whether he was their leader, their brother โ or their ghost.
