MID-LIFE MAGIC CIRCLE (Slow, hypnotic drumbeat — like footsteps through the woods) VERSE 1 Gather, sisters, gather near, Leave behind the doubt and fear. Through the pines and silver moon, We have found our magic soon. Salt from the sea, smoke from the fire, Old dreams rising, new desire. Crone and maiden, mother, witch— We’ve crossed the line, and found our switch. PRE-CHORUS — whispered Circle wide… Circle strong… What we lost Was never gone… CHORUS — CHANT We are the magic, we are the flame, We call each other by our secret names. Moon above us, earth below, Where we gather, magic grows. HEY! HEY! Midlife magic! HEY! HEY! Circle strong! HEY! HEY! Sisters rising! We have been waiting all along! VERSE 2 From the Berkshires to the shore, We know what we are waiting for. No more shrinking, no more small, There is room inside us all. Bring your scars and bring your laughter, Bring the chaos and happily-ever-after. Bring the woman you became— She is worthy of her name. PRE-CHORUS — building Raise your glass, Raise your hand, Raise your voice And take your stand. CHORUS We are the magic, we are the flame, We call each other by our secret names. Moon above us, earth below, Where we gather, magic grows. HEY! HEY! Midlife magic! HEY! HEY! Circle strong! HEY! HEY! Sisters rising! We have been waiting all along! BRIDGE — quiet, almost spoken One for the woman we used to be. One for the woman we dared not see. One for the woman we’re becoming now. And one for the woman beside you— who reminds you how. (Drums begin building.) ALL: I see you. I see you. You see me. I see you. We are here. WE ARE HERE. FINAL CHORUS — huge, joyful WE ARE THE MAGIC! WE ARE THE FLAME! WE CALL EACH OTHER BY OUR SECRET NAMES! MOON ABOVE US! EARTH BELOW! WHERE WE GATHER— MAGIC GROWS! MID-LIFE MAGIC! MID-LIFE MAGIC! MID-LIFE MAGIC CIRCLE! (Repeat, faster, with clapping and stomping.) WHO ARE WE? THE MAGIC! WHAT DO WE WANT? MORE LIFE! WHAT DO WE FEAR? NOTHING! WHAT DO WE KNOW? WE BELONG! WE ARE THE MAGIC! WE ARE THE CIRCLE! WE ARE THE WOMEN WHO HAVE COME ALIVE!
