Abracadabra What if I could wave a magic wand And fix the space between us? What if I could strip away Everything that came between us? Abracadabra Makeup gone Hair dye gone All the things we put upon Strip it down Take it back Find the nature that we lack Abracadabra I would wave my wand And send the poisons on their way All the chemicals and quick fixes We keep reaching for each day I’ve never liked the mad scientists Playing games behind the scenes Taking nature apart To see what makes the machine Experimenting Manipulating Changing what was made Trying to improve the picture Till the picture starts to fade But take the forty-thousand-foot view Look at what we’ve done We’ve wandered so damn far from nature We forgot where we came from Men are doing what they should be doing Kind of Just a little misdirected Adorning themselves Making themselves A viable mate to be selected But men are physical creatures Carnal They see They touch They taste They feel They smell That’s how they find their way To what they want that’s real Scent is huge Visual is huge Touch can tell them What the eyes don’t do They sift through the signals Trying to find the truth And then there’s us Women Intuitive Emotional Feeling through the body Before the mind can make a motion We know something Before we know why We feel it in our bodies Before we can explain But we’ve confused the senses We’ve covered up the clues We’ve painted over nature Till nobody knows what to choose Abracadabra Take it all away Let the man smell the woman Let the woman feel the man Let the body recognize What the mind forgot to say Because that’s not our job Who came up with this idea? Walking around like literal clowns Trying to catch somebody’s eye Paint the face Change the hair Add another layer there More and more And more and more Till nobody knows What’s underneath anymore Now don’t misunderstand me I like to look good Sometimes I put my makeup on To show off for my mate A little extra magic Never hurt a date And when I do I get the WOW You look gorgeous Because it’s not the norm It’s an added bonus That’s the point The signal gets stronger When the signal isn’t constant But our poor males They don’t know which bird to chase Too many shiny objects Too many feathers Too many faces Too many signals For their senses to sift through They can’t sniff you out They can’t feel you through The manufactured truth And while we’re busy Trying to become something We think they want to see We’ve forgotten how to feel We’ve forgotten how to be We’ve disconnected From the body From the gut From the knowing From the little voice That says Yes Or No Or Run Or Stay Our intuition That’s the thing We gave away Abracadabra Take the illusion down Abracadabra Turn the whole thing around No more shiny objects No more masks No more hiding No more asking “What do I have to become To make you choose me?” What if you don’t have to become anything? What if you just have to be? What if the body remembers What the mind forgot to see? What if attraction Wasn’t something we had to manufacture? What if connection Wasn’t something we had to advertise? What if the right one Could actually recognize you? Not the paint Not the package Not the performance You Abracadabra Strip it away Let nature speak Let instinct play Let the senses come alive Let the body remember Let the intuition arrive Because somewhere underneath All the noise we’ve made The ancient signals Are still waiting They were never erased The man can feel The woman can know The body can speak Before the mind says go And maybe the magic Was never in the wand Maybe the magic Was in us All along Abracadabra Take us back Abracadabra Back to the track Back to the body Back to the soul Back to the place Where the pieces become whole No more hiding No more disguise Let me see you With my own eyes Let me feel you Without the show Let nature tell me Where we’re supposed to go Abracadabra The illusion is gone Abracadabra And now We remember.
