[Verse 1] I found a dice in my pocket From a coat I wore last spring One blue edge, one chipped corner Rolled it just to feel something You said, "Pick now, don't stall it" I said, "You know I never do" It hit the floor by the doorway Six, then one, then back to you [Pre-Chorus] And every road looked open Every door looked mean I kept one hand on the moment You kept your eyes on me [Chorus] Pair of dice Pick a life Pair of dice Roll it twice If I land wrong I'll still win Pair of dice Say my name (don’t say it twice) [Verse 2] We took the long way homeward Past the cart with the cracked red paint You laughed when the rain came sideways You always laugh when I look afraid I had a plan in my jacket Folded up with a movie stub But plans go soft in your fingers When you want the truth enough [Pre-Chorus] And every road looked open Every door looked mean I kept one hand on the moment You kept your eyes on me [Chorus] Pair of dice Pick a life Pair of dice Roll it twice If I land wrong I'll still win Pair of dice Say my name (don’t say it twice) [Bridge] I don't need perfect answers Just my true delight Something small I can trust in Under my thumb tonight If the world keeps shifting Let it shift, let it slide I don’t have to chase it Because it lands by my side [Final Chorus] Pair of dice Pick a life Pair of dice Roll it twice If I land wrong I'll still win Pair of dice Don’t say it twice Pair of dice Pick a life Pair of dice Roll it twice If I land wrong I'll still win Pair of dice Say my name Say it thrice
