Little Black Cage

Blue light bleeding into my eyes, Another truth, another lie. I try to breathe, I try to think, But every thought is on the brink. I hate this thing, I need it too, It knows me better than I do. Every life in a little black cage, Scrolling rage from page to page. All these faces, none are real, I fake a smile I’ll never feel. I sell my silence, piece by piece, For a moment of relief. I scream inside, I make no sound, I’m lost but I’m still hanging around. I don’t want this, I can’t let go, I’m on my knees but I don’t know Who I pray to, who’s in control, This little screen eats up my soul. I press play, I fade away, Every night feels the same. God in my hand, dirt on my face, I disappear without a trace. Internet to go, straight to my veins, Cheap salvation, private pain. I trade my fear for being seen, I’m everything and nothing in between. No heaven left, no hell below, Just empty words I already know. I break the screen, it still looks back, Everything I am, everything I lack. I wanna feel something real again, Not a number, not a friend. I shut it down, I’m still online, It’s in my head, it’s in my spine. (half scream) Tell me who I am! I don’t want this, I can’t let go, I’m on my knees but I don’t know Who I pray to, who’s in control, This little screen eats up my soul. I press play, I fade away, Every night feels the same. God in my hand, dirt on my face, I disappear without a trace. Battery dead. I’m still here. I think.
