Little Kitty Stuck in a Well (edit)
[intro]down in the darkness in the bottom of a well i heard a small cry below from what i couldn't tell. [verse 1]i peered over the edge and listened for a while and there it was again a tiny little cry, “is somebody down there?” i called into the black “if you're a little kitten i'll try to get you back.” i found a rope beside the well and lowered myself down the deeper that i travelled the louder came the sound. i reached the bottom finally and shone my little light and there beside a broken stone two eyes shining bright. [verse 2]“oh, poor little kitty,” i said and stroked its head it gave a tiny “meow” and curled up in my hand like it was a bed. i picked it up so carefully and carried it back up there but as we reached the top i stopped and stared in fear. The kitten started growing and growing some more its little paws became huge claws and horns grew from its brow. Its body grew enormous its shadow filled the ground two great black wings unfolded and darkness gathered round. [verse 3]I stood there frozen stiff too frightened to even flee for what I thought was just a cat was now a demon three times me. Its eyes were burning crimson its teeth were sharp and long its voice was deep and thunderous and shook the trees so strong. Then suddenly it whispered, “Excuse me, are you okay? I hope I didn't scare you I haven't scared you away?” I blinked and stared at him and struggled to reply. “You're... you're a giant demon!” He said, “Yes. And?” with a sigh. [verse 4]“I thought you were a kitten!” He smiled and scratched his chin. “I was, until you rescued me. That's when the change kicked in.” He folded up his mighty wings and sat down in the grass. “I've been stuck down there for years. I'm glad that someone passed.” i reached into my pocket and pulled a little treat. “I saved this from my dinner. Would you like something to eat?” I couldn't help but laugh a bit despite my fear and dread. The giant dark and fearsome beast just wanted to be fed. [bridge] always carry a treat you dont know what you'll meet [verse]We walked back to my house as the evening sun went down. The demon carried all my bags and never made a sound. He helped me fix my broken fence and swept the garden too. He even chased away the fox that kept peeing in my shoe. And every now and then at night when moonlight filled the sky, I'd hear a gentle scratching and look up to see him fly. So if you hear a kitten crying somewhere down a well, don't leave it there — go rescue it, though there's something you should know as well: [verse]For sometimes what seems tiny and frightened, weak and small might actually be a demon who's been waiting for your call. And if that demon likes you, then you've really made a friend. For monsters aren't always evil some just need a hand to mend.
