[Verse] Down by the river where the trade winds blow Tommy brought the news from a week ago We packed the van for the long trip north Watching the tide as the ship set forth [Chorus] Paramaribo, under the heavy rain We’re chasing greatness, ignoring the pain Paramaribo, clear water in our hands Bringing the concert to these distant lands [Verse] The stage was built on a dusty lot The sun was high and the air was hot Tommy checked the cables and the sound While a thousand people gathered 'round [Chorus] Paramaribo, under the heavy rain We’re chasing greatness, ignoring the pain Paramaribo, clear water in our hands Bringing the concert to these distant lands [Bridge] The speakers roared and the lights went down A sudden silence fell across the town Then the first note hit like a summer storm We felt the spirit start to take its form [Chorus] Paramaribo, under the heavy rain We’re chasing greatness, ignoring the pain Paramaribo, clear water in our hands Bringing the concert to these distant lands [Outro]
