Chapter One - KingV

V6

Funny how the walls that shield you can become the walls that seal you in. KING V Chapter One. These are the walls I inherited, Love came wrapped in rules, I was never prepared for it. Built to survive, but I buried what's alive, Now I'm fighting my reflection just to see what's inside. Can a broken mirror show the man I'm meant to be? Or am I just the sum of what was handed down to me? I escaped the cage, but the cage lives in my mind, Trying to break the cycle without leaving me behind. No blueprint for a man, just a room full of restrictions, Freedom was the mission, rebellion my religion. I mistook protection for a prison with a vision, Now the bars I ran away from live inside my own decisions. Funny how familiar pain can feel like peace, How you run from your chains, then return for relief. I blamed the hands that shaped me, couldn't see the fear, Sometimes love wears armour when it doesn't know what's near. Generation to generation, silence passed as gold, Taught to freeze the heart before the world could make it cold. We inherit every wound, then call the damage pride, Build a fortress round the soul, let the real self die. These are the walls I inherited, Love came wrapped in rules, I was never prepared for it. Built to survive, but I buried what's alive, Now I'm fighting my reflection just to see what's inside. Now I'm caught between respect and the need to draw a line, Old values in my bloodstream, new conflicts in my mind. I can honour where I'm from without surrendering my name, You can question my direction, you can't tell me I'm a shame. I love hard, guard harder, contradictions in my chest, A peaceful man at war with all the things he never addressed. I don't want revenge, I want the truth without disguise, How can something meant to save me be the thing that keeps me tied? Broken glass can catch the light, but never look the same, Can I end the cycle without passing on the pain? Is redemption still an option when the past won't let me go? I found the exit from the prison—now I must unlearn its code. Maybe I was never built to break… Maybe I was built to change. Chapter One. KING V
