Oh, what comforts that come! Everything rests in our Father's hands, Should we as children be anxious then? He, who has for us a father's heart, Oh, He gives for each day Each its little share of joy and pain, As of toil as of pleasure. Just one day, one moment at a time Just one day, one moment at a time; He Himself is near us every day For each special time with special grace. Each day's worries He wants to bear, He who is called both Strength and Counsel. To preserve His precious property, This care He has laid upon Himself. "As your day, so shall your strength be," This promise He gave me. Just one day, one moment at a time; Just one day, one moment at a time; Help us then to rest safely and quietly Only in You, our Lord Jesus dear, And not to waste the precious comfort of faith, Which in the word is kept for us! Help us, Lord, that no matter what happens Always take your gentle hand Just one day, one moment at a time, Until we reach the good land.
