[Lyrics by Greenwolf] [Flute] [Celtic Guitar Solo] [Verse 1] He was a Gentry Highwayman A noble hidden by disguise Disillusioned with his status A way of life now dispised He took to the roads Under cover of the night Hiding in wait Till a stagecoach came in sight [Verse 2] He was a Gentry Highwayman He swore never to kill He stole to aid the needy And never ever for the thrill 'Stand and deliver your purse' As he stole aplenty Hidden behind his mask No one suspected his identity [Chorus] And as the magistrate ordered a search To apprehend the highwayman He rides off into the night To his noble life again [Verse 3] He was a Gentry Highwayman Considered a hero by the poor Distributed the purse that he stole To villagers a share of the score But none of them knew Who he really was They only knew how commited He was to his cause [Chorus] And as the magistrate ordered a search To apprehend the highwayman He rides off into the night To his noble life again [Guitar Solo] [Flute instrumental] [Chorus] And as the magistrate ordered a search To apprehend the highwayman He rides off into the night To his noble life again [Verse 4] He was a Gentry Highwayman He help up the magistrate's son Things appeared to go well Until they pulled out a hidden gun In an act of self defence He killed the magistrate's son And his armed escort arrived Before he had chance to run And now they'll hang him Before the day is done [ending]
