Update: 12-16-25 This was originally only meant to be a Halloween remix contest entry: I usually take these down and throw 'em onto my "Lost Again!" playlist, the first moment those events are over. (Esp when it's not one of my strongest songs...) However, I did leave up this one since during the same time period that the contest was happening, I was also being subjected to several at-times-massive, then 5-months-long-in-total smear campaigns -- by (usually) different groups of total strangers. I repeat: TOTAL STRANGERS. So -- after at least three-dozen+ diss tracks (most violating both ToS and laws) clearly identifying me, having my main (trademarked and branded) avatars both stolen and defiled with "fake" images, uninformed negative comments and even entire playlists with libel-level character assassinations and artwork/video covers sometimes trading in graphic, physical/emotional/sexual violence? I myself thought, "Hey, just cut to the chase, already -- I'm a DEMON. Okay?" 🀣 And I made this track. I had also thought about perhaps demonstrating how those folks don't know even really the first thing about me, by simply revealing some accurate, fundamental details instead... Esp when I had even previously told one of them (now showboating as the ultimate authority on me), "I don't know you well enough to open up to you." Then I realized: no one should have to defend themselves against allegations of a personal nature that never should have been made in the first place. (With thanks to rewatching this movie called "The Contender" -- if you don't know it? It's an amazing and inspiring screenplay. I especially recommend the viewing of it to anyone who happens to live as female and/or some kind of a minority -- since our attacks statistically are far more severe.) And I now realize its main theme is something called "status backlash" -- which I've learned is an almost inevitable "lock in the canal." Regrettably, it's also a severe one that most on the rise do not survive. The bottom line: This site is an incredible and innovative, music CREATION tool. It's tough to see it being repeatedly reduced into becoming but a weapon of destruction -- no matter at whom the most recent group witch hunt might be aimed (while most of the other creators understandably merely keep their heads down while probably praying that they aren't chosen to next be stoned to death). So? Am I truly a demon? Am I secretly a monster who devours rabid dogs for dinner? While I consciously ply a false front? Guess what -- it doesn't even matter. Because bad people make good art. Good people make bad art. And everything in-between. Not to mention my philosophy of how people's qualities are merely only good or bad, in any given context... (Which is to say, these tendencies of ours are often both good AND bad). Really, like most of us, in general... Our same inherent trait can make us shine in one arena yet will destroy something like our marriage, in another. Meanwhile? You'll never ever get me personally to stop loving this-or-that truly fantastic track/creator, even if all the wildfire-like gossip claims that the fabricator is a -- ___________, fill-in-the-blank with a wide variety of whatever-might-stick type slurs. Make and spread little derogatory stickers about them, even... Esp while pretending that you're working hard toward uniting the community or something noble. For whether I'm trying to simply mind my own business while quietly creating or actively listening to the great work of the other creators here? This place will always be primarily about the MUSIC for me. I see anything else (besides SUPPORTING OTHERS on this same journey) as simply a tremendous waste of EVERYONE's time and energy. Especially for those who are trying to use their negativity as a kind of currency: it will lead to nowhere valid in the long run. Nowhere. In fact? It's a kind of "fast cash" that always evaporates and will actually wind up costing them a lot. -------------------------------------------------------------- Only an entry for the Halloween remix contest -- best of luck to everyone! πŸŽƒ [Chorus] Do you hear her whispers? They're a deadly curse She's a monster Oooh, worse She's the monster in me Original lyrics & track by Mike B Revised lyrics & new arrangement by LKN All rights reserved by the authors alone
