The Electric Slide Confession

[Intro] Ladies and gentlemen Clear a little floor Somebody’s aunt knows the steps Somebody’s heart knows more [Verse 1] Folding chairs by the exit White balloons losing air You were laughing with your cousins I was pretending not to stare The DJ found the old one Everybody made a row Grandma kicked her heels off And the whole room started slow [Pre-Chorus] Step left, step right I kept my hands in time Turn back, clap twice Trying not to cross that line [Chorus] Love does the Electric Slide At the end of the cake Smiles under paper lights Hearts about to break Everybody moves together Everybody hides inside Somewhere between goodbye and forever Love does the Electric Slide [Verse 2] Your brother spilled the punch bowl Someone shouted, “Here we go” Kids were spinning in their dress shoes Like the world was made of glow You caught me on the turn back With that almost-saying face I forgot which way my feet went In that rented VFW place [Pre-Chorus] Step left, step right The room began to sway Turn back, clap twice You were one breath away [Chorus] Love does the Electric Slide At the end of the cake Smiles under paper lights Hearts about to break Everybody moves together Everybody hides inside Somewhere between goodbye and forever Love does the Electric Slide [Bridge] Nobody cries in the buffet line Nobody says what they came to say Nobody knows why the cheap white lights Make old mistakes look new that way So take my hand when the chorus starts Miss the step and laugh with me If this is all the dance we get Let it be clumsy, let it be free [Final Chorus] Love does the Electric Slide At the end of the cake Two fools under paper lights Trying not to shake Everybody moves together Everybody hides inside Somewhere between goodbye and forever Love does the Electric Slide [Outro] Step left, step right Turn back, clap twice I almost told you You almost asked me twice
