Verse 1 Twenty-five years and maybe more, We’ve raised our kids and been through it all. Seven friends who somehow became The Dons — and Don CeSar’s to blame. Mahjong marathons, year after year, Lots of tiles, lots of laughs, lots of cheer. And now our baby has hit six-oh, So off to New York the Dons will go! Chorus Oh Julie, Julie, this one’s for you, Sixty looks pretty damn good on you! From Sharon, Erica, Pam and Lisa, Chari and Susan — straight from Sarasota! Through all these years, one thing stays true: The Dons wouldn’t be the Dons without you. So raise a glass, and raise it high— To Julie at sixty — our favorite birthday girl tonight! Verse 2 We’re checking in at the Thompson Sunday, And somehow we’ve planned quite the day. Five get head spas, two miss the fun, Then break out the Mahjong — game on, everyone! Greek food for dinner, then out once more, A piano bar at nine-thirty — what were we thinking for? Who’ll start yawning? Who’ll make it late? At our age, nine-thirty is tempting fate! Chorus Oh Julie, Julie, this one’s for you, Sixty looks pretty damn good on you! There’s a two-drink minimum, so here’s the plan: Some won’t drink — so the rest of us can! We’ll sing too loudly, we’ll laugh all night, And hopefully stay awake past ten, all right? Raise a glass, and raise it high— To Julie at sixty — our favorite birthday girl tonight! Bridge But underneath all the jokes and fun, There’s so much good that Julie has done. A life spent helping Israel and Jews, Giving her heart to the work she chose. At United Hatzalah, she leads the way, Helping raise what’s needed to save lives every day. But ask her what matters above all the rest— David and her kids are what she loves best. Noah, Jamie, Danielle too, They know the Julie that we all do: Big heart, loyal, strong and true, And we are so lucky to call her our friend too. Verse 3 Monday morning, the tiles come back, Because the Dons need one more Mahjong attack. Then at one, we’ll eat our way through, With Rachel the Carbaholic leading the crew. Carbs and laughter, what could go wrong? It’s basically why we wrote this song. One perfect weekend, seven old friends— Though none of us are calling ourselves “old” just yet! Final Chorus Oh Julie, Julie, this one’s for you, For twenty-five-plus years of friendship true. We raised our families side by side, Through changing years and one crazy ride. From the Don CeSar to New York City, Still playing Mahjong, still laughing silly. The baby’s sixty — how can that be? And looking fabulous, obviously! So here’s to Julie, loved through and through, To David, your family, and all that you do. And wherever the next twenty-five years may go, There’s one thing we already know: Once a Don, always a Don— Happy 60th, Julie! Now deal the tiles and pour the wine… And somebody wake us up at nine!
