Summer swimming pool

[Verse 1] Towel on the fence Flip-flops by the ladder Phone face down ’Cause nothing else matters You race me to the rail Hair slicked back Wild grin Chlorine on your eyelashes You count I jump in [Chorus] Summer swimming pool We’re breaking every little house rule Laughing Dripping on the hot concrete Bare feet burning but the sky feels cool Summer swimming pool Time doing laps Doesn’t touch you If this is all we ever get to keep Let it be this Summer swimming pool [Verse 2] Sunscreen on your nose You miss a spot I trace it Cannonball confession Heartbeats in the waves We chase it Snack bar ice half-melted You steal the cherry Smug Your playlist in the speaker You dance beside my towel Shrug [Chorus] [Bridge] [low vocal register] Shadows getting longer Wrinkled fingers Water-stronger Lifeguard stacking up the chairs They’re closing They don’t care But we stay We stay One last run One last spray You splash my face I pull you close Say “Meet me here Every August Till we’re old” [Chorus]
