[Verse 1] I found a paper cup moon On a chain-link fence Half full of rain By the corner store You said, “Take it home” Like it was a sign So I tucked that glow In my back pocket [Pre-Chorus] And now I’m walking slow With my hands in the cold Trying not to spill What I never knew I needed [Chorus] Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on Paper cup moon Stay on my tongue I was empty too Till you came along Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on [Verse 2] Your laugh hit the glass Of the laundromat door Quarter-turn of fate In a spinning machine You wore yesterday Like it fit too well I wore my doubt Like a second skin [Pre-Chorus] Then you looked at me Like you already knew Some small bright thing Was waiting in the dark for us [Chorus] Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on Paper cup moon Stay on my tongue I was empty too Till you came along Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on [Bridge] If the night folds in I’ll fold with it If the rain comes down I’ll keep this little light (keep this little light) (keep this little light) [Final Chorus] Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on Paper cup moon Stay on my tongue I was empty too Till you came along Paper cup moon Hold on, hold on Hold on, hold on
