(54) The Honest Wind Remembers

[Intro – low campfire crackle + distant wind + hesitant bite sound] Yeah… I swore I’d never touch one. But the wind won’t let me lie anymore. [Verse 1 – The Evidence I Clung To] I tried to prove him innocent, Wolf Wayne, my brother in the stone, Brick by brick we built the wall against the Fix that claimed its own. Merchant stood beside him heavy with the child she carried then, Snow not even born when the king and queen fell to the bite again. I searched the evidence, the tracks, the blood, the broken throne, Swore it couldn’t be my friend — the one who called the wolves his own. But the vampires spun the tale so clean, so neat, so right, And when the proof all pointed back… I started losing light. [Pre-Chorus] Then the apple hit my tongue… and the memories came flooding in. [Chorus – heartbroken twisted perception] The Betrayer’s Bite — Wolf Wayne sank his teeth into the throne, Bit the king and queen while Merchant carried Snow unknown. Framed us all as monsters, painted blood across our name, While the vampires smiled and called themselves the ones who saved the game. I watched my mate fall screaming, claws still reaching out for me, Merchant took my pups — or so I saw — and left me on my knees. Twilight Howl came howling, the cleansing they called it then, We were the villains in their story… and I believed it in the end. [Verse 2 – The Massacre He Remembers (Tweaked)] I stayed to fight the rearguard, my mate dying in my arms, Wayne ran like a coward, left us bleeding in the dark and the charms. I saw Merchant strike her down, the clone I never knew, Took my pups into the dark and left me for dead in the dew. The curse came crashing after, splintered tree and splintered mind, Erased the truth and left me with the lie I couldn’t leave behind. I blamed him for the bite, I blamed her for the loss, I built strong houses for the world because I couldn’t save my own. [Bridge – spoken, raw & shattering] The apple brings it back… the blood, the screams, the night. But even now I see him running, see her smile in the fight. I don’t know what Dizzney twisted in the dark behind the scenes, I only know my mate is gone… and my pups were never seen. I thought the evidence would clear him. I thought the truth would win. Instead it left me broken… and the lie still lives within. [Final Chorus – grief into quiet rage] The Betrayer’s Bite — I carry that wound through every howl I make, Wolf Wayne caused the fall, Merchant sealed my family’s fate. I lost everything that night, everything I swore to save, And still I teach the world to build strong… so no one digs their own grave. The revolution’s rising… but the lie is in my bones. When Wayne comes back I’ll face him… and I’ll make him pay for what he’s done. [Outro – fading howl + dying campfire + broken whisper] Yeah… I ate the apple. The memories returned. But the story I believe… still ends with my friend as the villain and my family in the dirt. The wind don’t lie forever… but it sure as hell knows how to twist the hurt.
