The Keeper of the Last Key

[Verse 1] There was a house above the trees Where every window faced the sky No one climbed the winding road No one ever wondered why Inside an old forgotten clock A single brass key caught the light Cold as winter in my hand Warm enough to wake the night [Pre-Chorus] Every door I opened Held a life someone had known Not abandoned Only waiting to come home [Chorus] I'm the keeper of the last key Turning quiet into light Every lock remembers Every heart can find its way If one door closes forever Another learns to breathe Somewhere hope is waiting With the keeper of the last key [Verse 2] One room held a paper kite Another held an empty frame Every shelf contained a story No one thought remained Then I found a little wooden train Beside a faded sweater blue Suddenly the silent house Started whispering something true [Pre-Chorus] Every step was leading Somewhere I had never been Until the final doorway Opened from within [Chorus] I'm the keeper of the last key Turning quiet into light Every lock remembers Every heart can find its way If one door closes forever Another learns to breathe Somewhere hope is waiting With the keeper of the last key [Bridge] On the wall a child's drawing Signed in careful, shaking lines I reached out to touch the paper And recognized the name as mine Someone kept tomorrow safe Through every passing year Waiting for the day I'd find Everything I left here [Final Chorus] I'm the keeper of the last key Now I understand Some doors aren't meant to trap us They're waiting for our hands Every ending leaves a doorway Every memory a seed Love had kept the final room Until I found the key [Outro] The house grew quiet Morning climbed the hill The key stayed in my pocket But the door stood open still
