Especially the ones who are "already gone." Because there are many different types of love -- and "wartime bonding" is an especially powerful and everlasting one. Several of Jack's compositions were featured in my very first rock concert that I ever attended, in a packed arena with my big brothers. (They broke protocol and actually brought me along.) This would also be the last time that I ever attended a show with them -- one was already in the service; the other one would soon be. That's why I'm stunned and beyond honored to now have the full-circle experience of covering another of Jack's works. (Thank you, SUNO.) I got emotional last night as I tried my best to craft something that could even begin to be worthy... For him (more than for this contest), which I hoped he personally would appreciate. Not only for first touching my heart as that skinny little girl staring down in awe with her own brothers, from the nose-bleed section of some long ago and now-demolished bleachers.
