Redwood Backgate

[Verse 1] They park behind the pines No names, just coats and wine A brass key on the chain And a joke nobody names [Verse 2] Candle wax on oak Gold rings, low smoke The lawn is dressed in black And every laugh comes back [Pre-Chorus] Boys in velvet shoes Reading old rules They came to toast the night And keep it out of sight [Chorus] Redwood backgate Let the redwood backgate Redwood backgate Where the old doors wait (keep it closed) (keep it close) (redwood backgate) [Verse 3] A silver tray of pears Soft talk in the air The hill keeps all it hears And feeds on private cheers [Pre-Chorus] Boys in velvet shoes Reading old rules They came to toast the night And keep it out of sight [Chorus] Redwood backgate Let the redwood backgate Redwood backgate Where the old doors wait (keep it closed) (keep it close) (redwood backgate) [Bridge] Maybe they call it grace Maybe it's just a place Where power learns to smile And stay behind the file [Final Chorus] Redwood backgate Let the redwood backgate Redwood backgate Where the old doors wait (keep it closed) (keep it close) (redwood backgate)
