[Verse 1] My daddy told me one July There ain't no man outruns this ride Death keeps score and never loses It takes the wise and the foolish We live like it will never end But the rules of God do not bend Free will means we get to choose But there is only one way not to lose [Pre-Chorus] And we'll all stand in the light No hiding place before His might With every secret laid bare And receive our sentence just and fair [Chorus] Death is undefeated But Jesus took the judgment from our story And asked that we believe it So we could be in His glory [Verse 2] I've seen proud men fold their hands I've seen children try to understand I've seen tears fall on old Bibles By a bed where hope ran dry But the Lamb went down to the grave And came back with heaven's keys Now the guilty can come running And find mercy on their knees [Pre-Chorus] And when that great day opens wide There won't be nowhere left to hide Only mercy calling out And a nail-scarred hand held high [Chorus] Death is undefeated But Jesus took the judgment from our story And asked that we believe it So we could be in His glory [Bridge] So if your heart is worn and tired And the shadows feel too near Run to the One who bore the sentence Let His love cast out your fear He met the tomb and split it open He broke what we could never break Now the grave can keep its tally But it can't keep what He saves [Chorus] Death is undefeated But Jesus took the judgment from our story And asked that we believe it So we could be in His glory
