[Verse 1] We met by the lost-and-found stand You were laughing at a broken fan I was trading coins for coffee Raincoat squeaking as I walked in You said, “Look at all these orphans Handles bent and colors fading” I said, “Guess we’re kinda like them Left behind but still here waiting” [Chorus] We’re just leftover umbrellas Crowded in the corner of a station All these tangled little futures Dripping from a summer’s hesitation Pick one up, walk out the door See what kind of storm you’re headed for We’re just leftover umbrellas But we’re ready for your weather [Verse 2] You grabbed one with tiny cherries I took stripes of navy and cream You said, “Name a place you’ve never Let yourself believe you’d ever see” So we crossed the parking puddles Talking maps and maybe plans Two stray hearts and raindrop halos Under secondhand plastic canopies [Chorus] We’re just leftover umbrellas Crowded in the corner of a station All these tangled little futures Dripping from a summer’s hesitation Pick one up, walk out the door See what kind of storm you’re headed for We’re just leftover umbrellas But we’re ready for your weather [Bridge] One day skies stay clear And the stand looks bare, deserted But I keep that cherry pattern near Like proof it all was worth it (oh) [Chorus] We’re just leftover umbrellas Crowded in the corner of a station All these tangled little futures Dripping from a summer’s hesitation Pick one up, walk out the door See what kind of storm you’re headed for We’re just leftover umbrellas But we’re ready for your weather
