High school halls and slamming doors, Lockers lined like open stores, We thought those Chevys could really fly. Chasin’ dreams and chasin’ bells, Passing notes and rebel yells, Laughin’ loud like time would never say goodbye. Readin’, writin’, arithmetic, But life was movin’ twice as quick, In gym lights and Friday night cheers. We shared our hopes, we shared some tears, Faced our doubts and fought our fears, Built forever in those tender years. From grade school days to middle school halls, We learned our differences, loved ‘em all, But high school made our roots run deep. Oh, those were the days, Fast and furious ways, When the future was callin’ our name. We were young, we were strong, Thought we had nothin’ but time to lean on, Now fifty years feel the same. Through the miles and the years, Through the laughter and tears, By the good Lord’s amazing grace, We’re still standin’ tall, After all… See you all soon, face to face. Graduation caps in the summer sun, Then scatterin’ out one by one, Chasin’ jobs and wedding bands. We learned to give more than we take, Stayed up late for our children’s sake, Held our parents’ frail, but faithful hands. Watched some loved ones rise above, Into Heaven’s arms of love, Felt that bittersweet goodbye. Raised our own and let ‘em go, Now grandkids run through the house just so, Like echoes of those days gone by. Old friends passed, new ones came, But not a one could take the place Of the roots we planted long ago. Oh, those were the days, Fast and furious ways, When the future was callin’ our name. Now we’re older, maybe wise, With a few more lines around our eyes, But that fire still burns the same. Through the aches and the pains, Through the losses and gains, We still thank the Lord above, For every sunrise call, After all… See you all soon, my friends I love. We’ll brag on our kids, on our grandbabies too, Laugh about things we swore were true. Tell those stories just one more time, About who was late and who crossed the line. We’ll shake our heads, say “Man, we’ve grown,” But feel sixteen the minute we’re home. Oh, these are the days, Still fast in their ways, But we know what matters now. It’s the hands we hold tight, The faith that’s our light, And the sweat on an honest brow. No, we ain’t gettin’ young, But we’re far from done, In this life God’s blessed us through. So here’s to us all, Standin’ tall… See you all soon — Reunion’s callin’ me and you.
