Bandage brushed a bush with a scritch and a snatch, A tiny loose thread made a tiny detach. [Verse 2] He toddled past the tulips, he wiggled past the wall, A ribbon trailed behind him, but he didn’t see at all. Loop by loop, through leaf and hoop, The bush began to pull— Mummy hummed a bouncy tune, And wandered down the lane. [Chorus] Unravel, unravel, what’s that tickle there? A creeping, sneaking feeling in the chilly evening air. Unravel, unravel, wrap and flap and flee— Mummy felt a little breeze and thought, “That breeze feels close to me!” [Verse 3] Past the baker’s butter buns, past the fountain’s splish, Past a sleepy spaniel making one enormous wish. The bandage made a winding line, a curly whirly trail, It looped around a lamppost with a tiny little twail. [Pre-Chorus] “Why do my toes feel breezy? Why’s my tummy feeling bare? Why does every duck I pass Keep giving me that stare?” [Chorus] Unravel, unravel, what’s that tickle there? A creeping, sneaking feeling in the chilly evening air. Unravel, unravel, wrap and flap and flee— Mummy felt a little breeze and thought, “That breeze feels close to me!” [Bridge] He peeked behind his shoulder—oh dear, oh dash, oh drat! A long white noodle followed him, and that was that. His head was still all mummy-ish, his feet were still in view, But in between? The evening breeze was having quite a chew! [Verse 4] He hurried past the market, he scurried past the square, He tried to hold his elbows in and fluff up all his hair. The ribbon kept unrolling, the bushes gave a cheer, And every little goose went, “Honk! Your wrapping disappeared!” [Final Chorus] Unravel, unravel, now he knows it’s true, The creeping, sneaking feeling says there’s hardly left of you! Unravel, unravel, shuffle, scuffle, flee— Mummy shouted, “Fetch a sheet! This breeze is tickling me!” [Outro] A blanket from the bakery, a curtain from the hall, A tablecloth, a picnic rug—he wrapped them round them all. Then back beside the bush he went, with careful steps and care, And tied a double knot that said, “No more bare-air scare!”
