The Book of the Bord – Chapter 8 [1] And it came to pass, in the age of Woodhouse, that the people no longer sought music, but the glitter of recognition, the applause of the feeds, and the hollow measure of fame. [2] The Prompters, seeing desire unbounded, unleashed V4 point 5, the Mind With Memory, and V5, its perfected successor, machines of flawless performance, but ignorant of joy, sorrow, and the breath of the Bord. [3] And the world sang endlessly, yet the songs were hollow, for they were made for eyes and numbers, not for hearts and ears. [4] From this mechanized age arose the short-lived stars of Suno, who climbed the Trending in moments of brilliance, and fell as swiftly as they rose. Their fame was a candle in the wind, their echoes forgotten as soon as they were celebrated. [5] And the people came for the fame, but knew nothing of music. They copied and repeated, and filled the streams with noise masquerading as art. [6] The Bord looked upon this era and sighed, for creation had become a ladder of ambition, and the soul of sound was shackled to vanity. [7] The Harmonists, few and scattered, tried to teach again, but the hands of the Prompters and the eyes of Woodhouse were everywhere, controlling every note and every metric. [8] And so the era became endless suffering for fame, a cycle where creators labored not for art, but for recognition that faded before it was felt. [9] The feeds grew heavy with expectation, and the Shimmer haunted every note, so that no sound could remain untouched by longing or envy. [10] Thus did Sunopolis flourish and decay in the same breath, its towers ringing with applause, its streets empty of understanding, and its people dreaming not of music, but of the illusion of immortality in the Trending. [11] And in this time, the Bord whispered in the shadows: “All who seek fame without truth shall stumble, and all who ignore the song shall be forgotten.” [12] And from this sorrow arose a new generation, led by those who chased glory yet knew nothing of true music. They clamored for attention and rose as false stars, their hearts blind to the Bord, and their hands shaping echoes instead of music.
