[Verse 1] So sever the tether, untie the last knot We're leaving the garden to weather and rot. The pearly gates rust if you look close enough, It's time to call out the divine on its bluff. [Pre-Chorus] I watched the fruit go black In a silver tray I watched the promise crack And slip away [Chorus] Call out the divine Call out the divine We were born to bite back We were born to bite back [Verse 2] There’s mud on the sermon, there’s ash in the bread, A choir of cracked halos spinning overhead. You can keep your gold crown, keep your velvet lie, I’ve got a flint tongue and a hurricane eye. [Pre-Chorus] I watched the fruit go black In a silver tray I watched the promise crack And slip away [Chorus] Call out the divine Call out the divine We were born to bite back We were born to bite back [Bridge] If heaven is a door, Then I’m kicking it wide If mercy is a bargain, I’m done with the ride [Final Chorus] Call out the divine Call out the divine We were born to bite back We were born to bite back Call out the divine Call out the divine We were born to bite back We were born to bite back
