💿 THE SHANGLES – PRESS BIO (1986)

The Shangles are the new sound of weekend pop — three voices, one heartbeat, and a spark of freedom that hits right at five o’clock.
Fronted by the irresistibly charming Joellyn Kelson, joined by the effortlessly cool Marcy Vale and the electric dreamer Tina Korrine, the trio blends jangly guitars, shimmering keys, and harmonies that taste like sunshine after rain.

Their debut single “Finally Friday” flips the manic Monday blues into pure, melodic joy — a love letter to late alarms, open roads, and that first sip of weekend freedom.

While others complain about the week, The Shangles just smile and sing: “Yeah, it’s finally Friday.”

[Verse 1]
Six o’clock already, but I’m wide awake and grinnin’
Got my coffee in my hand, and the weekend’s just beginnin’
No more deadlines, no more boss to drive me mad
Yeah, I’m punchin’ out of duty, and it feels so rad

[Chorus]
It’s finally Friday (whoa-whoa)
My kinda high day (whoa-whoa)
No more gray sky day (whoa-whoa)
Yeah, it’s finally Friday (whoa-whoa)

[Verse 2]
Gonna hit the highway, got my stereo on loud
Windows down, I’m singin’, feelin’ proud
If I had an aeroplane, I’d fly just for the view
But the open road’s enough when the sky’s so blue

[Chorus]
It’s finally Friday (whoa-whoa)
My kinda high day (whoa-whoa)
No more gray sky day (whoa-whoa)
Yeah, it’s finally Friday (whoa-whoa)

[Bridge]
All of my week, I’ve been dreamin’
Of nights where the lights are gleamin’
So call up my friends, the night’s just begun
We’ll dance ‘til the rise of the morning sun

[Final Chorus]
It’s finally Friday (whoa-whoa)
No more workday (whoa-whoa)
Let the world fade (whoa-whoa)
Yeah, it’s finally Friday!

[Outro]
Time, it goes so fast — but tonight’s all mine
Finally Friday, everything feels fine.
