The instrumentation, the sound, it's messy, like life, like the process of turning grapes into wine. I've added my own lyrics to hopefully bridge the gaps in concepts that were in my last version of this song, which was the feedback I received. I will admit I'm still unsure which version I like best, but I do love the lyrical additions that are in this song. Poetically I think this version might be better, even though musically I might prefer the previous. The wine is bitter, lovely and it gets us drunk... drunk but happy. And whatever change may come... embrace it, you were once a grape, but now you are sweet sweet wine. No use in trying to become a grape again. ============================= [*Rumi*] We drink the wine of our own blood, aged in the barrels of our souls. [*Sebastiaan*] (our souls) (our souls) [*Rumi*] We would give our lives for a sip of that nectar, Our heads in exchange for one drop. [*Sebastiaan*] (one drop) (one drop) [*Sebastiaan*] The sweetness of grapes, Comes from the worry of the branch, And while brush stands alone In fields of purpose we all stand. [*Rumi*] Now don’t turn from delight that is so close at hand. Don’t find some lame excuse to leave our gathering. You were a lonely grape and now you are sweet wine. No use in trying to become a grape again [*Sebastiaan*] (you'll never become a grape again) [*Sebastiaan*] O love, shed your skin, be free O heart, leave your seed in a place you won't ever taste [*Rumi*] O tongue, let the Lover sing. O ears, get drunk on His song. no use in trying to become a grape again (you'll never become a grape again) [*Rumi*] Silence already! He gives us the wine to taste, not to talk about. [*Rumi*] He gives to taste--- He gives to taste--- He gives to taste--- He gives to taste--- He gives to taste. [*Sebastiaan*] They cannot feed you the wine It is you that needs to raise the glass, [*Rumi*] Within the cavern of my soul I heard the voice of a lover crying, [*Rumi*] Drink now! Drink now! Drink NOW! DRINK NOW! [*Sebastiaan*] The sweet preceded by bitterness, required for actual taste. all of us together all of us one [*Rumi*] I took a sip and saw the vast ocean Wave upon wave caressed my soul. [*Sebastiaan*] Wave upon wave upon wave upon wave. Caress my soul----! [*Sebastiaan*] (you'll never become a grape again) (you'll never become a grape again) (you'll never become a grape again) (you'll never become a grape again) [*Sebastiaan*] O love, shed your skin, be free O heart, leave your seed in a place you won't ever taste [*Rumi*] O tongue, let the Lover sing. O ears, get drunk on His song. no use in trying to become a grape again [*Sebastiaan*] (you'll never become a grape again) [*Rumi*] no use in trying to become a grape again
