[Intro] I’m about to enter my final year of B.Tech and honestly, I don’t know what to feel right now. [Verse 1] I’ve been coding since my diploma days — full stack development, real-world projects, part-time jobs — I’ve always loved building things. Never got into competitive coding, but I felt like I found my place in development. [Verse 2] Last December, I discovered open source and GSoC. The idea of getting selected, building something impactful, and having it on my resume felt like a way out. I’ve struggled with getting shortlisted for internships, and I thought this could change things. [Chorus] I started contributing in December, even before the org list came out. I had PRs merged, found two projects I loved, and poured my heart into the proposals. The mentor was encouraging. I genuinely thought I had a real shot. [Breakdown] But on May 8, I opened the results and… I wasn’t selected. [Verse 3] I don’t know what hit me harder — the rejection, or the fact that I didn’t apply for many internships because I was all-in on this. [Outro] I need to earn, I need to support my family, but right now I feel defeated. I don’t know where to go from here. Just needed to let this out.
