[Verse 1] Backseat blur of a Pontiac Lipstick red on a leather jacket MTV glow from the radio shack window You said Take me somewhere tragic Arcade tokens in your ripped black jeans Smelled like smoke and berry gloss I tasted summer on your fevered skin Then I learned what hunger costs [Chorus] Neon bite In the dark of a parking lot night Your pulse on my tongue Felt right Slow dance under buzzing pink signs Neon bite Cherry blood in the moon’s spotlight You swore you’d be mine for life Freeze-framed in that ultraviolet crime [Verse 2] Polaroid flash We were ghost-white fangs Backcombed hair Tiny dangling crosses Bangles You traced veins like a mixtape track Whispered Drown me in your scandal Walkman hiss Your favorite song Played while your heartbeat lost the race You said Turn me Don’t you dare grow old So I wrote forever on your waist [Chorus] Neon bite In the dark of a parking lot night Your pulse on my tongue Felt right Slow dance under buzzing pink signs Neon bite Cherry blood in the moon’s spotlight You swore you’d be mine for life Freeze-framed in that ultraviolet crime [Bridge] VHS in a midnight room Your shadow grinding over mine (oh) Lips like liquor Eyes cartoon huge From too much sugar and cheap red wine Now I haunt every mirrored wall In every club that plays that track All those bodies glow in ultraviolet But I still taste you taking me back [Chorus] Neon bite In the dark of a parking lot night Your pulse on my tongue Felt right Slow dance under buzzing pink signs Neon bite Cherry blood in the moon’s spotlight You swore you’d be mine for life Fade fast But the craving survives Neon bite Every decade Every new night Same hunger in the same moonlight Still chasing that first electric crime
