[Verse 1] You left your glass by the sink Like you meant to come back Your coat on the chair Still got the shape of your back I keep your name in the jar With the loose change and keys It rattles when I move Like it knows what it sees [Pre-Chorus] And I tell myself move on But the floor won’t let me go Every step toward the door Turns around and walks home slow [Chorus] Salt on my tongue Your name on my lips Salt on my tongue Won’t wash clean for me I bite that hurt And it bites me back Salt on my tongue Yeah, I keep coming back [Verse 2] Your lipstick on the rim Of my chipped blue cup The light hit it once And now it won’t give up I tried to toss the shirt But it fell from my hands Like it knew every lie That I couldn’t stand [Pre-Chorus] And I tell myself move on But the floor won’t let me go Every step toward the door Turns around and walks home slow [Chorus] Salt on my tongue Your name on my lips Salt on my tongue Won’t wash clean for me I bite that hurt And it bites me back Salt on my tongue Yeah, I keep coming back [Bridge] I don’t need your apology I just need this ache to leave But the room keeps your outline On the back of my sleeve If I say it out loud Will it split me in two? I’m still standing right here With the ghost of you [Chorus] Salt on my tongue Your name on my lips Salt on my tongue Won’t wash clean for me I bite that hurt And it bites me back Salt on my tongue Yeah, I keep coming back [Outro] Salt on my tongue Salt on my tongue Yeah, I keep coming back
