Dave Dudley fired up his Yamaha six-fifty, Said, “Boys, don’t worry, this thing’s pretty nifty!” The Harleys started rumblin’, shaking up the street, Dave twisted that throttle—“Boys, wait up for me!” [Chorus] 🎵 Dave Dudley on a six-fifty, Trying like hell to keep up with the crew! Harleys are rumblin’, Dave’s motor’s screamin’, “COME ON, BABY! I KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO!” He’s tucked down low, got the throttle wide, Prayin’ that Yamaha makes it up the other side! Dave Dudley on a six-fifty, Still chasing Harleys like he’s got somethin’ to prove! 🎵 [Verse 2] We hit the highway and the pack took off, Dave disappeared like somebody shut him off. Then way back yonder came a little blue streak, Dave yelling, “SLOW DOWN! I’M ONLY GOT SIX-FIFTY!” We stopped at the corner, everybody had a grin, Dave finally caught us—about ten minutes in. He pulled up smokin’, helmet crooked on his head, Said, “I was right behind y’all… well, mostly in my head.” [Chorus] 🎵 Dave Dudley on a six-fifty, Trying like hell to keep up with the crew! Harleys are rumblin’, Dave’s motor’s screamin’, “COME ON, BABY! I KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO!” He’s tucked down low, got the throttle wide, That Yamaha’s beggin’ just to stay alive! Dave Dudley on a six-fifty, Somebody tell that man the Harleys ain’t waitin’ on you! 🎵 [Bridge] He says, “It’s not the bike, boys—it’s the rider!” We said, “Dave, you might wanna make that rider a little faster!” He laughed and said, “Just give me one more chance…” Then we heard that Yamaha behind us: “NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!” Everybody yelled— “THERE HE IS!” [Final Chorus] 🎵 Dave Dudley on a six-fifty, The bravest little bike in the Tennessee wind! Harleys are laughing, Dave is still fighting, That Yamaha’s screaming, “I AIN’T GONNA QUIT!” If you see Dave coming, better slow it down, ‘Cause he’ll catch you eventually— if you’re waiting around! Dave Dudley on a six-fifty… King of the pack… as long as the pack takes a lunch break! 🎵 [Outro] Dave shut it off and said, “Hell, boys… that thing runs pretty damn good.” Someone asked, “Yeah Dave… what year is it?” Dave said, “I don't know, but it ain't fast enough.”
