My Evermore
**Evermore** Weary, as the day departed, I beheld, with senses thwarted, Curtains swaying like ghosts, on floors once polished bright as yore. But now those floors, no longer gleaming, dull with shadows softly scheming, Stretching 'cross the grouted seams of marble, white no more. These icy tiles, once pure and rare, now hold a darkness that I can't ignore, Whispering softly, "Evermore." Memory, like a twisted vine, clings to walls where love once shined. But now, the vines are dead and brittle, curling black along the floor. Where once our voices built a palace, strong and true with golden chalice, Now the echoes ring with malice, from a love that is no more. Each stone laid with words unspoken, crumbles now, as darkness bore This ruin of our love, forevermore. The castle that we raised together, now decays in harshest weather, Its bridal halls, once bright with laughter, now echo with a dismal roar. The horses’ hooves no longer thunder, past the fence now torn asunder, As every board and every blunder weighs upon this heart so sore. The crises gathered, piling high, like kindling ready to ignite the core, Of all that once was ours, Evermore. Candles flicker, barely holding, their light within the darkness folding, Around a king, now just a jester, lost within this broken lore. Our future etched in golden frames, now fades like distant, dying flames, As shadows creep through twisted games, where love’s light shines no more. The marble blackens, inch by inch, beneath the weight of oaths we swore, To bind us to this place, Evermore. Confused and frayed, my mind retreats, to where your footsteps used to meet, The door where now I stand alone, with no solace to restore. A vision of you, faintly seen, dances where the painite's gleam Once graced this hall, where now I dream of days that are no more. A whisper in the midnight air, a ghostly echo at my door, Tells me that you’re gone, Evermore. But what is left? This crumbling stone, this hollow shell where love has flown, A prison made of broken dreams, where I shall dwell, forlorn. The raven's cry, harsh and bleak, mocks the words I cannot speak, As I wander through these shadows deep, my fate forever torn. The flames that rise, consume my soul, as I become what I abhor, A man undone, lost to the dark, Evermore. The rope tightens, pulling fast, as fire's light begins to cast, A glow upon the fading past, where shadows danced before. The study burns, the foyer too, as flames consume what once I knew, The darkness spreads, it takes its due, as I close the final door. I see my reflection in the glass, a twisted smile that begs for more, Of this bitter end, this final act, Evermore. What have we wrought, this castle grand, now lies in ashes, all unmanned, A monument to broken vows, where love once was adored. The towers fall, the walls collapse, beneath the weight of time's cruel lapse, As every dream we once held fast, is buried in the floor. The fire roars, the darkness wins, as I surrender to the core, Of all that once was mine, now lost, Evermore. The fire roars, the darkness wins, as I surrender to the core, Of all that once was mine, now lost, Evermore.
