Sin of Fury (Reimagined)
A low hum under skin, a boiler that won’t rest, A heartbeat of machines, static coiled in the chest. A whisper in the dark, fury calling my name, A shadow lit with fire, I can’t smother the flame. It rises in my eyes, a coal pressed to my throat, I pray it will dissolve, but it sharpens every note. Hands that once held love now freeze into stone, Each kindness turns to sparks I cannot leave alone. Sleep thins into paper; dreams curl up and burn, Ashes on the pillow, no peace left to return. I count the seconds slowly, a mantra in the haze, Breath becomes a burden, debts I cannot erase. Fury is a house I live in; shutters slam and block the light. It eats the day and leaves my mouth full of anger. I shout and the rooms answer back with the faces I have driven away. This is the sin of fury; it keeps the keys and never lets me get away. Conversations fade to static, dinners end with plates gone cold, Phones will ring but fall to silence, patience wears and stories fold. Eyes once open close like maps I can no longer trace, Names dissolve to echoes, love becomes a debt I can’t erase. Each morning I wake with sorrow, every breath is sharp and tight, I count in water’s rhythm, chasing calm against the fight. The coal still knows my name, it burns beneath the scars I choose, I battle fury daily — some days I win, but most days I lose. Fury is a house I live in; shutters slam and block the light. It eats the day and leaves my mouth full of anger. I shout and the rooms answer back with the faces I have driven away. This is the sin of fury; it keeps the keys and never lets me get away. It never lets me get away It never sleeps It keeps building up inside I just want this wrath to die [silent interlude] The furnace cools; smoke rises like a prayer, Light breaks the shutters; I breathe unbound air. He calls my true name, the coal burns no more, He lifts me from ruin, my fury to the floor. I am saved — His mercy will not end, He grants me peace; my soul can finally mend.
