[Verse 1] The polar ice cap's melting fast, And so we're told it will not last. The days of freezing 'bergs have passed The experts are, like us, aghast. [Verse 2] We must save gas and other power Before we lose one tiny flower. The food chain's in its final hour. The experts look at us, and glower. [Verse 3] We're told that carbon must be banned In favour of a greener land With cleaner air, and whiter sand The experts will all lend a hand. [Verse 4] The government's now in the race To move things at a faster pace And make the world a safer place The experts really have a case. [Verse 5] She sings the facts with swinging grace, A smoky smile upon her face; But if we don’t improve this place, She’ll need a boat to leave her base. [Verse 6] She scats of storms and rising seas, Of plastic-choking ocean breeze; She’d like a world with thriving trees, And shoes that don’t float to her knees. [Verse 7] She croons of switching off the light, Of sharing cabs on Friday night; Of eating green and flying light, And bingeing less on fossil might. [Verse 8] So when the charts show heat and drought, And experts wring their hands about, She winks and belts her final shout: "If we don’t cool this planet out, The only ice I’ll get, no doubt, Is clinking sadly… in my stout!"
