[Verse 1] I know which way I'll go St Barnabas of derby road Or old St Mary's church in Hockley My place of sanctuary While the forces of darkness bared down on me [Pre-Chorus] I kept my head low Kept my hands together Every step was a prayer Every breath was weather [Chorus] Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again St Barnabas, old St Mary's Hold me up when it gets scary Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again [Verse 2] Boots on stone, rain on glass Names in the dark that I let pass I found a light in a chapel frame Small as a match, strong as a flame And I walked on through that iron night [Pre-Chorus] I kept my head low Kept my hands together Every step was a prayer Every breath was weather [Chorus] Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again St Barnabas, old St Mary's Hold me up when it gets scary Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again [Bridge] If the shadow comes back If the air turns cold I'll follow the bells I'll follow the old Where the cracked doors wait And the quiet stays [Final Chorus] Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again St Barnabas, old St Mary's Hold me up when it gets scary Sanctuary road, take me in Sanctuary road, I'll come again
