Verse 1: (In Hardship) When the night is long, and the road is steep, And the shadows hold the promises You keep. When the tear finds its path down a weary cheek, And the heart is too tired, even to speak. This is the test, like the earth to the rain, To rise from the hardship, through the patient pain. So plant your feet firm, on the ground of Sabr (patience), For with every hardship, comes a door from Him. Chorus: O soul, be content, in the giving and taking, In the gentle calm, and the earthquakes shaking. For the One who decrees the dark and the light, Has measured your strength for the fight. So say Alhamdulillah (All praise is to God), in the low and the high, With a shukr (thankful) in the heart, and a sabr in the eye. Verse 2: (In Ease) When the sun smiles warm, and the breeze is sweet, And blessings surround you, abundant and complete. When the path is made smooth, and the well is deep, And the harvest you gather is yours to keep. This is the trust, like a garden you tend, A gift not for pride, but on others to spend. So let your hand be open, your voice be low, Remember from Whom all these favors flow. Chorus: O soul, be content, in the giving and taking, In the gentle calm, and the earthquakes shaking. For the One who decrees the dark and the light, Has given this ease to shine bright. So say Alhamdulillah, in the low and the high, With a shukr in the heart, and a sabr in the eye. Bridge: For life is but two changing states, a turning tide, With the Merciful forever by your side. In the trial, seek Him. In the ease, praise His Name. The goal is the same, through the joy and the pain. To be a thankful servant, humble and true, Whether shaded by grief, or by mercy's dew. Final Chorus: O soul, be content, in the giving and taking, In the gentle calm, and the earthquakes shaking. For your Lord is forever, All-Wise and All-Kind, True peace in His remembrance, you will find. So say Alhamdulillah, in the low and the high, With a shukr that soars, and a sabr that stands by. Outro: Alhamdulillah... alhamdulillah... Through all of my days, alhamdulillah. With every breath, alhamdulillah. My Lord, I am Yours, alhamdulillah.
