[Verse 1] I found you on my sill Grey feet on the frame One eye like a marble One wing with my name You pecked at the paper Like you knew what I hid A note in the drawer And the lock on it slipped [Pre-Chorus] So I kept the door cracked Kept the crumbs in a line You were waiting there still Like you had all the time And I laughed when you stared At the world in my room Like a tiny storm came With a bruise-colored plume [Chorus] Open pigeon, open pigeon Carry this heart away Open pigeon, open pigeon Show me some other day (Open pigeon) in your hands (Open pigeon) I wanna change Open pigeon, open pigeon Take my name [Verse 2] Now you strut on the ledge Like you own the whole block With a string from the tag And a chip in your walk You dropped one white feather In the sink by the mail Then you looked at me slow Like you knew I would bail [Pre-Chorus] So I kept the door cracked Kept the crumbs in a line You were waiting there still Like you had all the time And I laughed when you stared At the world in my room Like a tiny storm came With a bruise-colored plume [Chorus] Open pigeon, open pigeon Carry this heart away Open pigeon, open pigeon Show me some other day (Open pigeon) in your hands (Open pigeon) I wanna change Open pigeon, open pigeon Take my name [Bridge] If I open up wide Will you fly, will you stay? Will you circle this place Then go light with the gray? I don't need a cage I don't need a crown Just a brave little sign That the weight can come down [Final Chorus] Open pigeon, open pigeon Carry this heart away Open pigeon, open pigeon Show me some other day (Open pigeon) in your hands (Open pigeon) I wanna change Open pigeon, open pigeon Take my name Open pigeon, open pigeon Carry this heart away Open pigeon, open pigeon Lead me out today
