Room to Breathe - Original
We bought a house on Maple Street Painted the porch, rested our feet But five years in and we both knew Something was off with me and you Not a fight, not a breaking point Just two lives slowly out of joint We said it out loud on a Sunday night Some things feel wrong even when they feel right Now we're headed different ways Learning how to fill our days It stings like hell but underneath There's open road and room to breathe I drove north, you stayed in town Took a while before I found A quieter life, a smaller pace Something true in a new place Not a failure, not a fall, Sometimes love just can't hold it all The different people we became I outgrew our old life But not my own name. First month was hard, I won't pretend I didn't know who I was then But the fog lifts slow and then one day You realize you're gonna be okay I called him up on a Thursday night He laughed and said he was alright Funny how after all the pain You realize it wasn't all in vain Yeah we headed different ways, Both of us found better days, It hurt so bad but underneath.... Was open road and room to breathe (Open road and room to breathe!)
