It’s an apartment block, strange but bright, somehow stumbling through its life alright. Everything sorted, floor by floor, every tenant behind a door. Way up top inside my head, lives a judge completely unhinged. Always watching, always loud, full of ego, mean and proud. Cold-eyed critic, bitter preacher, honestly… a weird little creature. Between my stomach and my knees, lives somebody too, don’t ask me please. And let’s not dive in way too deep, I’ll skip ahead and make a beep… Inside my chest there lives a soul, much less cruel than Mister Control. Sensitive, strange, not fitting in, but when he burns, the songs begin. He loves creating, leaves doors wide, still believes in the good inside. Between my stomach and my knees, lives somebody too, don’t ask me please. And let’s not dive in way too deep, I’ll skip ahead and make a beep… Then there’s one living in my neck, called Mischief — a funny Shrek. Sometimes dark, sometimes bizarre, making chaos from afar. Nothing serious in his brain, you would laugh if you knew his game. When days go wrong, he plays the clown, lifting you up when you feel down. Oh wait… I almost missed one ghost, he moves around the body most. Sometimes hiding in my back, sometimes in my knee attack. You can feel him every day, but never see him anyway. He belongs here too, I guess, today he gives my bones a rest. Between my stomach and my knees, lives somebody too, don’t ask me please. And let’s not dive in way too deep, I’ll skip ahead and make a beep… This is my house, the one I keep, guarding all the souls that never sleep. Trying my best to keep things calm — before they turn the fire alarm. I’m a caretaker, not a brilliant one, more like a pretty lousy guardian.
