I fear not the abyssal, beckoning deeps, To plunge within them, Only I am capable to leap. Ready to sleep and not awaken. And the icy surface of lakes, By high mountains concealed, And the splashed carpet that makes Of water lilies, with gold embroidered. I fear not to reach the bottom, Not to surface, lost in thought in vain… And even if life is but one, I fear not to spend it again! Let the mocking pattern of lips With their breath destroy Him who carried mad nonsense, That he would never love. I fear not to tell myself, I fear not to confess to myself, That I deeply do not care For those who did not dare to surrender To the will of the beckoning deeps, By high mountains concealed, Where I swim there alone, In water lilies, with gold embroidered. I lost, but I won, And the victors – are not judged! I simply took – and I loved… And let the whole world forget me!
