I Come Before I'm Ready (Matt 11,28)-MasterMorph
I come before I'm ready. I set my keys down on the table. The house has settled into night. But all the things I left unfinished are still awake inside my mind. I say, "I'm fine," so easily, before the question's even through. Tonight I let the silence answer. There's nothing I must hide from you. You said that I could come to you with all the weight I carry. I come before I'm ready, with all the weight I carry. I leave my polished words outside; there's only you and me. The things I couldn't finish can wait until tomorrow. Jesus, I will stay a while. With you, my heart can rest. My cup grows cold beside me. I leave it where it is. For once, I let the silence be something I don't have to fix. There are people I am missing, and questions still with me. You let the silence be a prayer when words don't come easily. I don't need words that sound impressive. You hear me when I pray. I come before I'm ready, with all the weight I carry. I leave my polished words outside; there's only you and me. The things I couldn't finish can wait until tomorrow. Jesus, I will stay a while. With you, my heart can rest. Tomorrow's work will still be there. I'll meet it when it's time. I don't have to solve my whole life before I close my eyes. Show me what is mine to do. Help me leave the rest with you. I come before I'm ready, with all the weight I carry. I leave my polished words outside; there's only you and me. The things I couldn't finish can wait until tomorrow. Jesus, I will stay a while. With you, my heart can rest. The house is quiet now. I let the quiet in.
