[Intro] Ever glorious and blessed Mary, Queen of Virgins, Mother of Mercy, Hope and comfort of the desolate, Hear the prayer I bring to thee. [Verse 1] Through the sword that pierced thy tender heart As Jesus suffered on the tree, Through His love and filial tenderness, And the grief He shared with thee, Take pity on my needs and cares, On every sorrow, every plea; Mother of Mercies, refuge of the afflicted, Spread thy protection over me. [Refrain] I ask it through thy Son, O Mary, Through His mercy, love and pain; Bring my prayer before my Savior, Let His grace within me reign. [Verse 2] Through the Word who took our nature, Whom thou bore within thy womb, Through His anguish in the garden, In the shadow of His doom; Through the scourging and the mockery, False accusation, cruel decree, Through His tears and bloody sweating, Mother, intercede for me. [Verse 3] Through the thorns upon His Sacred Head, Through the nails in hands and feet, Through His thirst and bitter vinegar, Through abandonment complete; Through the mercy shown the dying thief, Through His words before He died, Through the blood and water flowing From His opened Sacred Side. [Refrain] I ask it through thy Son, O Mary, Through His mercy, love and pain; Bring my prayer before my Savior, Let His grace within me reign. [Verse 4] Through His holy life and Passion, Through the cross and darkened day, Through His descent among the faithful, Leading captive souls away; Through His triumph in the Resurrection, Through the forty days of joy, Through His glorious Ascension, And the hope death cannot destroy. [Verse 5] Through the Holy Spirit descending, Fiery tongues and hearts made brave, Through the Gospel carried outward, Calling all the world to save; Through the day when Christ shall judge us, Living, dead and all creation, Through the joy of thine Assumption And thy heavenly contemplation. [Prayer] O glorious and blessed Virgin, Comfort now thy supplicant; Obtain for me before thy Son These my silent intentions. For I trust His love for thee And thy tender intercession; Bring my prayer before my Savior, According to His holy will. [Verse 6] Obtain for me a living faith, Firm hope and perfect charity, True contrition, honest confession, And the grace to turn from sin; Love of God and love of neighbor, Patience when I suffer wrong, Grace to persevere in goodness, And in holy works grow strong. [Verse 7] Teach me mortification of self-will, Keep my resolutions true; Grant repentance at my final hour, And a mind attentive too; May I receive the Church’s sacrament Worthily when life must cease, And die within thy friendship and favor, In my Savior’s lasting peace. [Final Prayer] For my parents, brethren, relatives, Benefactors, living and dead, Ask thy Son for life everlasting, By His mercy may they be led. Ever glorious and blessed Mary, Mother of Mercy, hear my plea; Through the Passion of Jesus Christ, Pray for them, and pray for me. Amen
