Fly, Little Favorite Kite v31

[Verse 1] Found a kite Stuck in the chain-link fence Blue paint on one wing Rain on the tail end I cut it loose slow Like I was setting you free It shook in my hands Then it pulled back to me [Pre-Chorus] Wind at the corner Turning in circles I held my breath And let it go [Chorus] Fly, little favorite kite Fly over my head Fly, little favorite kite I want to see you again Up past the fence line Up where the day bends Fly, little favorite kite Till the whole sky sings [Verse 2] Kids on the sidewalk Pointing and laughing loud A dog chased the shadow Right through the crowd You left a red thread Wrapped around my wrist I kept the small tear Like a promise in my fist [Pre-Chorus] Wind at the corner Turning in circles I held my breath And let it go [Chorus] Fly, little favorite kite Fly over my head Fly, little favorite kite I want to see you again Up past the fence line Up where the day bends Fly, little favorite kite Till the whole sky sings [Bridge] If you dip low, I’ll run If you spin, I’ll stay Even a broken thing Can learn its way One tug, then silence One spark, then light Take the whole sky And come back tonight [Chorus] Fly, little favorite kite Fly over my head Fly, little favorite kite I want to see you again Up past the fence line Up where the day bends Fly, little favorite kite Till the whole sky sings
