[Verse 1] You were laughing at the jukebox Spilling secrets in a plastic cup I was busy trying not to stare At the name tag on your denim jacket Midnight closed the tab on us Taxi doors and hurried “text me” plans You forgot one simple thing Leaning on that empty stand [Chorus] You left your umbrella at the bar Folded like a question by the door Now I’m walking home under a drizzle Holding something that was yours It’s a tiny Tired piece of you Dripping ink on my front seat You left your umbrella at the bar But the forecast’s stuck in me [Verse 2] Next day Same stool Same bartender Said you called Said you might swing by I rehearsed three hundred small-talk lines In the glow of a crooked sign Storm rolled in Chairs went upside down Last bus sighed and pulled away I kept that handle in my hands Like it might call out your name (oh) [Chorus] You left your umbrella at the bar Folded like a question by the door Now I’m walking home under a drizzle Holding something that was yours It’s a tiny Tired piece of you Dripping ink on my front seat You left your umbrella at the bar But the forecast’s stuck in me [Bridge] Maybe you forgot on purpose Maybe it was just the rain Either way I’ve got this shelter From a stranger’s yesterday If I see you when the clouds break Do I give it back or say “Keep it I already caught Every storm you brought my way?” [Chorus] You left your umbrella at the bar Folded like a question by the door I still walk past on every Thursday Just in case you want it more It’s a small Strange souvenir From a night we barely knew You left your umbrella at the bar And I’ve been waiting under you
