(Note: to be clear, "only" a friend.) I was a far smaller creator than him (as I still am) and pretty much a stranger, when I shyly questioned him back in the spring about maybe remixing his still-never-published original song "She Was the One"? I still can't thank Wavy enough for trusting me with that track... I really kept him in the loop while I was off on my own, doing my three different "rounds" for a female cover version of his song (which isn't my usual process). Anyway, that's how we began to get to know each other well and we always kept in close contact, after that... Wavy says "toe-mah-toe" (he's from the UK) and I say "tuh-mayt-oh" ('cause I'm from the US). Yet we were surprised to find out that we share the exact same first childhood music (Motown). And that we both -- thanks to a parent -- also possess a strong background in and appreciation of jazz. I could go on and on -- yet my point here is simply about how music unites us, across different cultures, thousands of miles, and even generations. This is a love song, and that's also appropriate -- as I really did love and respect Wavy as my special music friend. 💚 Original lyrics & track copyright by Jack Tempchin Duet arrangement by LKN Prompting/personas by Wavy Scho & LKN
