Water Shortages Verse 1 Water shortage Is a misnomer Say it again I still don’t know her There’s water everywhere Life-giving plasma Moving through the realm Like some beautiful mantra You can’t hold it In the palm of your hand But jump into a river And you’ll understand You can swim in it Play in it Watch it fall from the sky You can float upon it You can watch it pass by Chorus Water, water Everywhere Life is moving Through the air Water, water All around Above us Below us Under the ground Calling it a shortage Doesn’t make it disappear Clean up the muck And the abundance is here Verse 2 It’s energy It’s movement It’s life It’s flow It’s the thing that lets Everything grow From the ocean To the river To the rain To the snow It’s been moving Long before We ever came to know So maybe the question Isn’t where is the water? Maybe the question Is what did we do To the water? What did we bind? What did we poison? What did we bury? What did we hide? Chorus Water, water Everywhere Life is moving Through the air Water, water All around Above us Below us Under the ground Calling it a shortage Doesn’t make it disappear Clean up the muck And the abundance is here Bridge Saying there’s a water shortage Is like saying there’s an air shortage What kind of madness Are we talking about? The water is here The water is here The question is Can we clean it? Can we free it? Can we stop treating Life like something We can own? Breakdown Rip out the binding Clear out the muck Let the water move Let the water run Let the rivers breathe Let the oceans turn Let the rain come down Let the whole thing burn No more pretending Abundance isn’t there When water is surrounding us Everywhere Final Chorus Water, water Everywhere Life-giving plasma Moving through the air Water, water Beautiful and free Flowing through the world Flowing through me You can’t hold it But you know it’s there You can swim in it You can breathe the air It’s everywhere It’s everywhere Water shortage? Asinine! The water is here The water is here We just have to Clean up the muck And let it flow.
