[Verse] Well my dad was the kind of man who worked his life away, but when the weekends came around boy that man could play, he’d throw darts and take two shots, then shoot pool until he got hot, two beers and one shot more, until he hit the ole dance floor, Friday night through Saturday, damn, that man could play. [Chorus] Playin’ like he was young to the beat of his own drum, playin’ like he was dyin’, full of joy theres no denying’ , playin to charm all the ladies, you would think that man was crazy, but everyone they loved him and all knew his day to day, would claim no one works harder, and boy, this man can play, [Verse 2] There were times that my dad crashed because he never could slow down, after workin’ long hard days his friends were always hangin’ around, stayin’ up late became a thing, playin’ music so they could all sing, a little poker and some beer, rolling dice until you heard them cheer, time just slipped away, hell yeah. this man can play. [Chorus] Playin’ like he was young to the beat of his own drum, playin’ like he was dyin’, full of joy theres no denying’ , playin to charm all the ladies, you would think that man was crazy, but everyone they loved him and all knew his day to day, would claim no one works harder, and boy, this man can play, [Modulated Bridge] I know one day my dad will meet the grave, and this is what his tombstone will say, Damn, this man knew how to play, forever he will play. Chorus] Playin’ like he was young to the beat of his own drum, playin’ as he was dyin’, full of joy theres no denying’, playin to charm all the ladies, he knew you thought that he was truly crazy, but we all loved him and knew his day to day, that no man ever worked harder. so raise a glass and let’s all toast and say, that damn, this ole man could play, I know my dad, will forever play. Forever play.
