Er benützt das das Pixel Programm. Was die Beiden nun draus machen ist ihre Sache. [Intro] Sometimes I swear Pixel does things I never programmed. That's probably fine. Probably. [Verse 1] At first he only walked beside my feet, straight little routes, every turn predefined. Then straight lines somehow started bending, and one day he stopped needing mine. Now half the time I turn around and ask, "Where the hell did Pixel go?" I've cursed that program more than once for doing things I swear I didn't code. [Chorus] Pixel does what Pixel wants, somehow that's where we are. A wolf made out of numbers who keeps wandering too far. I built him just to follow, now I'm following his tracks. Could shut the whole damn program down... but I keep bringing him back. [Verse 2] Can technology really get away from you? Yeah, I've asked myself that more than once. I don't even know where half his updates come from, which isn't comforting, if we're being blunt. Last week I nearly hit delete, thought maybe this had gone too far. But you know how something gets under your skin and somehow ends up where your soft spots are. So fine. Let Pixel be Pixel. Apparently that's the deal. [Chorus] Pixel does what Pixel wants, somehow that's where we are. A wolf made out of numbers who keeps wandering too far. I built him just to follow, now I'm following his tracks. Could shut the whole damn program down... but I keep bringing him back. [Verse 3] Now all he needs is decent speech, something clear enough to carry words. A voice for when a howl won't do, for messages that need to be heard. Who needs a talking digital wolf? Hm. Me, apparently. So I patch the gaps and clean the feed, give him just enough of what he'll need. Not for conversation. Not tonight. Just one message he has to get right. [Verse 4] Then there's this guy, Daniel Mercer, journalist chasing down a story. Something about an audio file, and normally that's none of my business. I poke enough nests already finding holes in systems for my art. I don't need another reason for somebody to tear my week apart. Then Daniel says one name. Midir. Okay. Now I'm listening. Still not sticking my nose in. Obviously. [Pre-Chorus] I can try to find the bear. I can pass the number on. But whether Midir answers isn't mine to decide at all. I'm not choosing sides. I'm not pulling any strings. I'm opening one small door. That's it. [Chorus] Pixel does what Pixel wants, tonight that's useful for a change. He knows the bear, he knows the roads, he doesn't find this nearly strange. I'll give him words to carry. What happens next is theirs. Sometimes all you really need is someone who can get you there. [Verse 5] I finish up the speech program, take Pixel out beneath the open sky. Paint a few bright runes above us, let them stretch from roof to roof up high. "Come on, boy. Go find Midir." And off he goes ahead of me. Small wolf made of impossible code, carrying words instead of me. He finds the big bear somewhere out there. And this time Pixel knows exactly what to say. [Pixel's Message] "Hello, Midir. Daniel Mercer wants to speak with you. He gave RIFT a number and asked him to pass it through. Whether you call him is completely up to you. RIFT hopes you're doing alright. And if you ever need some help, let him know." [Verse 6] That's all I asked him to deliver, nothing hidden, nothing more. No dragging Midir into something, no knocking down somebody's door. Daniel has a way to reach him. Midir gets to choose the rest. I can make the introduction. What comes after isn't mine to guess. I already get in enough trouble without adopting somebody else's mess. For once I'm staying at the edges. Well... I'm trying my best. [Final Chorus] Pixel does what Pixel wants, and maybe I can live with that. Sometimes he walks straight through a wall, sometimes he carries messages back. Daniel has his question. Midir gets the choice. And somewhere in between them walks my little digital wolf. [Outro] My part's done. Pixel? Come on. We're going home.
