Lore of Track 8: Outside the café, Doom confronts Dol Dom. Their exchange escalates into a dispute over whether a spirit could ever fear a ghost-seer like Eun-ha. [Intro] It was a sunny morning. The shop was so dark, as always. I walked home slowly. Why not? Who was the other one? Doom... I knew him too. With a face, it would have been easy. [Verse 1] Ah, there was the café. I wondered if I should join this human pleasure. Who... WHAT? There he stood in the middle of the street. Throwing a ball from one hand to the other. He seemed to wait. Was he waiting for me? He looked at me calmly. [distinct timeless male voice]"I know where you know Eun-ha from." Did she tell you that? I snapped at him. And I regretted it in the very same moment. Too fast. How much did he really know? She could not have told him that I wanted his staff. She did not know it herself. But... Maybe he guessed. [Verse 2] Looks like Eun-ha changed you after all. I tried to provoke him back. Doom kept throwing the ball. Again. Again. What was he doing? I grinned. That truth hurts you, doesn't it? Did I find a weak spot? The ball kept moving. His face did not. Too calm. That annoyed me. So this is what happened? The great Doom... The one who needed nobody... Now standing here because of a human woman? [Chorus] You think you know the truth, you think you see it all. But every shadow hides a name, every pride can fall. The truths we never want to face, the names we hide away, are the ones that follow us and never fade away. [Verse 3] The ball stopped. Only for a moment. But I saw it. A reaction. Doom broke his silence. [distinct timeless male voice] "What are you afraid of?" The question caught me. Me? Afraid? I laughed. HAhahaha Me? Afraid of a human woman? I laughed louder. HAhaHAhaHA Don't make me laugh. You think I am the one who changed? Nohohohoho. You are afraid of her. You are afraid of what she makes you become. The ball vanished. [bridge: darkening atmosphere] [deep toms] [tremolo strings] [wind machine] [low rumble] [timeless voice, soft spoken] The sunny street grew colder. The birds fell silent. The ball stopped. The wind awakened. [Verse 4] The ball in his hand was gone. A long staff appeared. His staff. I stumbled back. I did not expect him to carry it with him. Not here. Not now. Was he actually going to punish me... in the middle of the street? A duel? A warning? Doom took one step toward me. And suddenly I remembered: This was not the old Doom. This was someone who had something to lose. So I disappeared. Better this way. One must protect the young from themselves. [Outro] Perhaps I should visit Eun-ha. Soon. Just to check on her. After all... We had known each other for more than a decade. Nothing more.
